Tournaments

Northern Star Chess are experts are conducting chess activities that are fun, challenging and inclusive. Our events are highly flexible to accommodate the needs of the program. The main focus is to provide a safe learning environment for students to experience the challenge and excitement of a chess tournament.

Here are some of the most popular tournament formats that we have been conducting for the past 15+ years:

  • Inter-School tournaments  involving other schools. Typically these events are held during term 1-3, and are zonal qualifier for the NSC suite of State Finals conducted in term 4.
  • Chess Fest Days  Part of our Chess Fest incursion program, the Chess Fest Day is a fun day of introduction to tournament activities, the grand finale of the incursion program.
  • Primary and Secondary School Teams Championships  Annual events for the Primary and Secondary perpetual cups in each division
  • House Chess Days  Friendly in-house competition where school houses play off a House Cup (perpetual trophy)
